Here are some options for traveling from Puerto Escondido to Chacahua:

By car for hire:

Renting a car is perhaps one of the simplest ways, but probably also the most expensive. A car in Puerto Escondido costs about 700 to 1000 pesos per day for rental and requires a credit card. It starts from Puerto Escondido and in about an hour you reach the village of Zapotalito, where there is a parking fee of 50 pesos per day. From there you take the boat that will lead us to our destination.

By taxi:

Travelling by taxi might be the best choice in terms of cost and time, especially if you are a group of at least four people to share the expense. A taxi from Puerto Escondido to Zapotalito costs between 1,000 and 1,500 pesos. Travel time is about an hour.

In collettive :

Collective travel may be cheaper if you are traveling alone and cannot afford a taxi. You take a collective from Puerto Escondido to the collective terminal, in front of the gas station Gasolinera, at a cost of 12 pesos. From there we ask the collective that goes to the crossroads of El Zapotalito, which arrives in about an hour and a half, with a stop of 5-10 minutes in Rio Grande. Once you arrive at the crossroads, you take another collective or taxi that will take you directly to the moorings of the boats. The cost of the first collective is 70 pesos and the cost of the taxi from the crossroads to the moorings is 20 pesos.

By boat:

Once you arrive in Zapotalito, you will be welcomed by the guys who will take you by boat. You will have two options: a boat trip that crosses the lagoon and lasts about 40 minutes at a cost of 300 pesos, or a cheaper option that consists of taking a shorter boat (5 minutes) that will take us to take another collective on a dirt road that in 30 minutes will take us to the center of Chacahua. The cost of this option is 50 pesos for the boat and 50 pesos for the collective on the dirt road.

Whichever option you choose, it is important to consider the travel times and waiting time of the boats, which can vary from 5 to 45 minutes, depending on the amount of people waiting at the pier. The costs remain more or less the same for the return trip to Puerto Escondido.
