5 things u need to go
to a surf camp

If you are a real surfing and adventure fan, to really enjoy your experience to the fullest, you need to be ready and know what to take with you.

Here are the 5 must-haves to never forget:

1. Suitable clothing:

During your surfing trip, don’t forget to pack some boardshorts or bikinis, they are essential! Make sure you always have a dry pair on hand for your water sessions.

  • A surf poncho is a handy accessory to have: it can be used as a towel after the session and makes it easy to change dry clothes if there are no changing rooms around.
  • Sunglasses are a must-have, but they can be easy to break or lose on vacation. Always bring a spare pair so you’re safe!
  • Do not forget a hat to protect head and face from the sun. The bucket hat is in fashion this year, so it could be a trendy and functional choice!

Get ready with the right outfit for your surfing sessions. A good surf costume, suitable for water temperature and local climate, along with swimsuits or comfortable clothing to relax on the beach. Be ready to enjoy the sun and waves in safety and style!

2. Water resistant sunscreen:

When you go to a surfing destination, it’s inevitable to catch a lot of sun, so make sure you bring plenty of waterproof sunscreen with you! In places like Bali, where the UV index is high, make sure your sunscreen has a high SPF. And don’t forget a lip balm! Choose a sunscreen without Oxybenzone, which is more ocean-friendly. And bring aftersun and Aloe Vera with you to soothe the skin in case of sunburn. And don’t forget to pack the eco-friendly zinc!

Make sure you also have the right outfit for your surfing sessions. A good surf costume, suitable for water temperature and local climate, along with swimsuits or comfortable clothing to relax on the beach. Be ready to enjoy the sun and waves in safety and comfort!

3. Surfboard:

How many boards should you bring on your trip? The answer depends on various factors, but we can simplify the decision.

If you travel in a van, you have the freedom to bring all the boards you want. But if you are flying, you need to be more selective. If you plan to spend most of your time at the beach, consider a daily driver. However, if you are looking for larger waves, bring an extra board to deal with different challenges.

Plan according to the type of waves you want to ride and your level of experience. Generally, two or three boards can be enough. However, always check the airlines’ policies on carrying surfboards to avoid additional costs.

Don’t forget to choose a board that suits your level and sea conditions. If you don’t have your own, local facilities can provide one. Be sure to do your research in advance and enjoy the waves without any worries!

4. Fins and leash:

  • Taking fins with you for your surfboard is essential, but we will still list some tips because forgetting them at home would be a shame! Don’t forget to bring one or two sets of replacement fins if you need them. And don’t forget the extra keys and screws, they are small but valuable!
  • As for leashes, they are indispensable when you go into the water, so it is better to take some extra ones with you. With one or two spare leashes of different thicknesses, you will be ready to not lose your board in any wave. And why not also add some extra tie on the leash? Better to be prepared than repent!

5. Wax:

Be sure to bring some wax blocks with you when you go surfing, because you never know how easy it will be to find good quality wax in your destination. Remember to check the water temperature: you want the wax to be at the right temperature to achieve maximum adhesion! Prepare a few blocks of your favorite wax, because it may not be readily available during your trip. Be sure to review the water temperature at your destination to make sure you have the right wax.

Here are some popular wax brands to consider:

Mr. Zogs Original Sexwax
